“Kermit” 1974 FJ40

1974 was the one of the transition years for Toyota Land Cruisers. It was the last year of the 1F engine and the first year featuring a 4 speed transmission. Toyota redesigned the rear of the frame to accommodate the newer style rectangular taillights that were used for the next 10 years. 1974 is also the last year of the 2 piece front doors as well as the 1/2 high swing out doors in the rear. $9,000

It’s getting hard to find affordable, running / driving FJ40s these days. This Land Cruiser is one that needs a good home, at a price that’s lower than most.

This FJ40 was actually driven daily up until about a year and a half ago. It still starts right up every time we need to drive it. The previous owner did a good job of having it professionally maintained, and it really doesn’t need much to be put into daily use again.

The front of the 40 is in really good shape actually, but the rear of the tub has the typical rust. The rust was made worse by the diamond plate quarter panels someone put on years ago. They were removed to prepare the 40 for sale. Note the rust on the front of the floor behind the passenger seat. This rust isn’t that common and will actually be the hardest rust to repair properly. Although all of the rust repair panels are available to patch this half tub, this 40 is an excellent candidate for a half tub, or maybe an Aqualu 3/4 tub.

Recent improvements include a set of 5 new OEM wheels, and 5 new 31X10.50 tires. Included in the sale of the 40 are the front hubcaps, not pictured, and the original spare tire carrier. There are also a set of half soft doors for the aftermarket top, and of course the 5th wheel and tire. Unfortunately this FJ40 does not have the original top and doors.

As always, We’re happy to answer any questions about this, or any other Land Cruiser for that matter. Enquire by emailing the shop at info@resurrectionlandcruisers.com or calling at (970)596-7363.
