The Context…This unique diesel 4Runner on FZJ80 axles was built by a friend of the shop with some assistance from some of the guys back in the day. It’s gone though a couple of iterations since then and has been used primarily as a hunting vehicle in Wyoming. It’s a solid 4X4 and despite the fact that it has always sat for months between uses, it’s never failed to start and be reliable. The buyer should know however that a vehicle like this is always going to be a project. Off the top of my head, I know of a few small issues. The rubber matting is falling off of the back of the rear seats and the tailgate. The rear window rolls down but not up without jumping it. There are a few lights on in the dash for systems that are no longer functional because of the engine conversion. It probably needs new shocks. And the spare tire is flat. It’s going to need attention and love. Nevertheless, I’d drive this 4Runner anywhere in the country right now as is. Here are the details
1991 4Runner
- Cummins B3.3l turbo diesel, all mechanical injection, no computers
- R151F Toyota 5 speed

- ARB locking differentials
- ARB front bumper
- Warn winch
- Trail gear (modified) rear bumper
- Clean body with no rust
This vehicle is difficult to value as it is so custom. Needless to say, the owner has much more invested in the rig than the asking price. We strongly encourage seeing this (and every) rig in person before buying. $15,000
